PRESSING QUESTIONS
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
It’s much deeper than “making people look pretty.” We have the power to transform someone’s confidence and be a safe place for them. I don’t take that for granted.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
The ability to foster client relationships. There are many great beauty providers, but what will make you stand out is your ability to listen and how you treat people.
Best advice I ever received
Operate like you’re already the version of yourself you want to become.
Biggest challenges in my career
Transitioning from being a provider to now also the owner/operator was a huge learning curve. I’ve learned how to be a better leader and navigate the balance of both roles.
How I knew this was my passion
Struggling with acne myself led me into this industry. I wanted to help other people find the confidence in their skin I was looking for for years.
What I learned from my first job
I'm grateful my first job was in the local beauty industry. I learned the sacrifice it takes to run a business and to treat every customer as your best customer.
Best career moment so far
Our annual Holiday Open House. This event is really special to me because we invite other local women-owned businesses to participate and it’s a great way to support each other.
Nonprofit I wish more people knew about
Arestevi Foundation, an organization based out of Nashville, Tennessee, that provides comprehensive support for human trafficking survivors.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
Maintaining an active lifestyle is crucial for me. Strength training is not only empowering, but really helps keep my stress levels in check.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
I slow down and pray for clarity. It’s really hard to make good decisions in a state of stress or panic.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
I love getting to connect with each client. Many of them have become like friends, so I feel lucky to catch up with them and make them feel their best.
