WOMEN TO WATCH

Sara Hurst

Account Manager • Founder
First Orion • Bella’s Kitchen

Charles Morgan hired me to work at his latest venture, First Orion. I am excited to work with him because he is not only incredibly smart, but he is a visionary and successful entrepreneur. Little did I know that learning from Charles’ entrepreneurship stories would motivate me to pursue my own business! I turned my love for cooking and motherhood into my creative outlet: Bella’s Kitchen, a meal prep service for kids and families.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

I wish someone told me at the start of my career

It’s OK not to know everything, but it’s equally important to be resourceful. With evolving technology, I have taught myself how to manage social media, create websites, SEO, graphic design, product management, etc. And I am still learning.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

You don't need to move to Silicon Valley to work in technology. First Orion is growing fast and offers great opportunities and incentives. I work with brilliant people, and the advancements we are making in this industry are remarkable.

Best career moment so far

Starting Bella’s Kitchen. To watch the idea turn into a reality is incredible. It wasn’t easy and was quite a challenge to start a business during a global pandemic. I am glad I did and am proud of what we have done so far!

How I knew this was my passion

I have always been fascinated by technology. As a millennial, we grew up with it. I love talking to our developers, data scientists and engineers at First Orion because they are truly changing our world as we know it.

Nonprofit I wish more people knew about

Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance strives to reduce hunger and improve access to nutritious food here in our state through some amazing programs like No Kid Hungry and Cooking Matters.

Biggest challenges in my career

Learning to get work done and juggle everything with an active toddler, a social teenager, a playful puppy and a hard-working husband, all under one roof. But also learning to find pockets of time for myself so I don't completely lose it.

What makes Little Rock feel like home

The people. I am lucky to have met many amazing people here, including my husband. We have a wonderful family here including our church family at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. I love the sense of community in Little Rock.
