After completing my surgical residency and fellowship in diseases of the breast, I was recruited to the surgical faculty team at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). My dedication to clinical, education, leadership and research excellence led to promotion from assistant to professor with tenure. I currently lead with passion in the department of surgery, as professor, executive vice chair, director of health initiatives and disparities research, division chief of breast surgical oncology and hold the Muriel Balsam Kohn Chair in breast surgical oncology.
As an advocate, I serve the community with zeal and optimism. As a business leader, I find joy in co-owning a consignment boutique with my sister Beverly Young, The Closets on Chenal, that caters to women and men high-end apparel. Spiritually, I find solace in my faith in God. I’m also an active member of Faithful Temple Church, in Little Rock, under the leadership of Pastor Ronald Young.
