PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
My passion began as a teen after a friend’s Type 1 diabetes diagnosis and learning how nutrition impacts the body. It led me to explore food, health and well-being personally.
What I learned from my first job
My first job, in kidney transplant nutrition, was challenging with all the diet restrictions. There I learned to communicate clearly and meet clients where they are with compassion and clarity.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
The most rewarding part is seeing clients improve energy, labs and their relationship with food, creating sustainable changes that meaningfully improve daily life and long-term health.
Nonprofit I wish more people knew about
Cooking Matters, an organization that empowers families to cook together and learn practical nutrition skills that build confidence and support long-term health.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Nutrition is highly individualized and behavior-focused. It’s far more nuanced than meal plans or calorie targets alone.
Biggest challenges in my career
Learning to wear multiple hats in private practice — seeing clients, managing business tasks and trying to do it all well without losing the quality of care I care about most.
Best advice I ever received
Keep showing up, keep growing and treat setbacks as part of the process. Failure is information, not the end.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
I go outside, get sunlight, move my body and reset by playing with my kids.
Best career moment so far
Building my private practice and watching it grow through referrals while seeing clients achieve lasting improvements in health, energy and confidence.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Learning boundaries, especially protecting my time and energy while running a practice. It’s something I didn’t fully appreciate until I was responsible for everything.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
I really benefit from walking breaks throughout the day to reset and maintain clarity and balance.
