WOMEN TO WATCH

Krystin Cheatham

Real Estate Loan Advisor & VP
Arvest Bank

I started my journey at Arvest Bank as a teller in 2004. Since then, I’ve learned that banking isn’t just about numbers, it’s about people. Today, as a real estate loan advisor, I don’t just process applications, I help people build the literal foundations for their futures. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than holding the keys to someone’s dream and saying, “You’re home.”

PRESSING QUESTIONS

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

When clients invite me into their homebuilding journey, they entrust me with their dreams. Helping them settle into a home they love makes every challenge worthwhile.

How I knew this was my passion

I realized I could transform a customer’s anxiety into confidence. Building a home can be overwhelming, both emotionally and financially. Being the person who provides the steady hand is my calling.

Biggest challenges in my career

I love the challenge of demystifying the process. By acting as a grounding force, I transform overwhelming complexity into a confident, empowered experience for my clients.

Best advice I ever received

My dad lived the poem "Sermons We See," teaching that people want someone to walk with them, not just tell the way. Lead by example and show up for people.

A skill I never expected to need in this field

I never expected to serve as a “translator.” Breaking down complex banking jargon into clear, actionable steps allows my clients to move forward with confidence and total peace of mind.

Best career moment so far

Repeat customers are my highest compliment. I love closing loans for long-time clients. Helping families transition from starter homes to dream homes is a rewarding milestone we reach together.

Nonprofit I wish more people knew about

Friendly Chapel Church, founded by my grandfather. It’s a lifeline for our community, providing 300 meals daily, clothing and essentials, continuing a family legacy of feeding and loving our community.

What I learned from my first job

Every person has a unique story and specific needs. It taught me the secret to truly helping is listening for understanding.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

Running is my essential mental reset. Whether training for a local 5K or a full marathon, the discipline of distance running clears my mind and builds the stamina I need.

The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall

After 22 years, collaboration is my compass. Whether it’s my mentors or my team, talking through a challenge reveals a path forward that I couldn’t see on my own.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

I wish people knew how much I care. Every challenge they face, I face with them. I am every bit as invested in seeing that foundation poured as they are.
