I am a partner at Wright Lindsey Jennings, one of the state’s oldest and largest full-service law firms. I started my career as a judicial law clerk with the Arkansas Supreme Court. Since joining WLJ, I have built on the experience I gained while working for the court by specializing in appellate advocacy and complex motions practice spanning many areas of civil law. People often do not realize how much of litigation proceeds on paper and not in the courtroom. My work primarily involves the behind-the-scenes writing of motions and briefs that helps equip other firm attorneys for successful trials and appeals.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion:
The majority of our clients are defendants, and the case they are facing might be the most important thing happening in their life or to their company. I love sorting through that puzzle to help them achieve the best outcome.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field:
Practicing law is not as glamorous as it appears on television — far from it, actually. But it makes those moments when you do get to feel like a hero all the more rewarding.
Best advice I’ve ever received:
Always take the high road.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day:
I didn’t grow up knowing that I wanted to be a lawyer, I sort of stumbled into it. But I always knew I wanted to do something that involved my love for writing and for problem solving, which are skills I get to use every day to help my clients.
I wish I knew how to:
Speak more foreign languages.
A nonprofit I wish more people knew about:
I wish people knew more about the Junior League of Little Rock. There is a common misconception that the Junior League is all parties and pearls. I have been a member for 10 years and I can tell you it is anything but that. It is a group of dynamic women who have been on the forefront of efforts to develop the potential of women and children and to improve the Little Rock community for generations, and I’m proud to be part of its legacy.
Advice for my 18-year-old self:
Stand up for yourself, but don’t take yourself too seriously, either.
What makes Little Rock feel like home:
I love that in Little Rock we get to experience all of the perks of a big city, but we’re also so close to Arkansas’ beautiful outdoors.
