WOMEN TO WATCH

Kate Dimitrova

Director of Marketing
WER Architects / Planners

WER Architects/Planners is a commercial architecture firm. Our team is youthful, experienced, creative – committed to designing projects that consider the needs of the individual to create powerful architecture. As Director of Marketing, I use my understanding of marketing strategy and research, combining both technical skills and creative experience to deliver more powerful messaging. I love using creativity in all that I do – marketing, design, fashion and family life. I sit on the board of Ballet Arkansas and am on the building committee for Arkansas Alpha Pi Beta Phi.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

Best career moment so far:

When one of the partners at WER casually said, “I wish I could clone you so you could come work for us.” That sentence changed my professional life. I called him the next day and haven’t looked back since!

How did you know this is what you wanted to do?

I am equal parts left and right brain and love to use creativity every day in different ways. My dad encouraged me to get a business degree, and the more I researched, the more I knew that marketing was a great fit.

Favorite part of living in Little Rock?

I have a two-year-old son and love the endless amount of activities to do with my family in Little Rock! We love the Little Rock Zoo, Museum of Discovery and Two Rivers – there is always something fun to do.

Most rewarding part of your job:

Collaborating with our team. We have a contemporary, open office, which allows for our entire design team to work together on creative solutions for clients. Working with a team who is passionate and dedicated to their craft is extremely rewarding!

How you define success:

Happiness. When I am happy at the end of a project, an interview, the day – I know I’ve done my job well. Life is too short to not seek happiness and joy every day.

If you could lunch with any woman, who would it be?

Michelle Obama. She epitomizes a modern woman – full of grace, strength and style; she is educated and doesn’t apologize for who she is and what she is passionate about. I would love to spend an hour with her!

What is a typical workday like?

After coffee and breakfast with my family, I’m at work at about 7:45 a.m. I spend a lot of my day writing, editing and designing. I’m also working on an artwork project for a client, which has meant fun field trips!

I wish I knew how to__________.

Play the guitar! I’ve always wanted to learn. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the music gene in my family!
