Community Bakery has been baking fresh pastries, cakes, cookies and breads for 75 years. What drew us to this historic brand was the intentional impact the business makes in our community. As CFO, my job is to align this intention with our company’s resources. It’s been both challenging and deeply fulfilling.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Learning to set boundaries on my time. When I don't set boundaries everyone only gets the rest of me, not the best of me.
Biggest challenges in my career
Knowing when it's time to grow and in which direction. Growing a business is exciting, but sometimes growth is needed in the roots – parts you don't see – that firmly plant you.
My first job and what it taught me
My first job taught me I will never be 100% ready for the next step or next promotion. Surround yourself with a fantastic team and just take that next step.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Accounting is more than just numbers or tax returns. It's about helping people solve problems and reach their goals. It is a true joy to share in these moments.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
The feeling that what I do matters, and it matters to my community. We often say we are not owners, but merely stewards of Central Arkansas’ community bakery.
How I knew this was my passion
I knew this was my passion when I recognized how to use my training and talents to make a difference in the world around me.
Nonprofit I wish more people knew about
World Central Kitchen
Best advice I ever received
My father told me it was better to pass up the good deals as long as you passed the bad. You don't want any opportunity, you want the right opportunity.
