Prior to PCSSD, I was the director of tradigital strategy at Team SI, a digital marketing agency in Little Rock, and before that, I worked nearly a decade in TV and radio. My experience in the fast-paced news world adequately prepared me for my current role as the PCSSD executive director of communications where I handle internal and external communication and marketing.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
After 15 years in TV and marketing, I wanted a job that could combine my talents while helping others. In my position, I'm able to help children everyday.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Self-control. There are many times when stakeholders are upset over things out of my control, but I have to remain calm and composed. Every response must be carefully crafted.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
I started CrossFit in November 2016, and it was the best decision! I usually work out five days a week at Omnis CrossFit West to maintain my sanity and health.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Being a school communications professional is very fulfilling just as it is very stressful. We are behind the scenes ensuring the schools and employees are shown in the best light.
Best career moment so far
I absolutely loved working in TV, especially in sports. But the best decision I made was leaving the TV business in order to spend more time with my family.
Biggest challenges in my career
One of the biggest challenges of my current job is reaching all stakeholders in our school district. No matter how many channels of communication are used, you can't reach everyone.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
The kids. It truly is all about the kids. I love putting my communication, marketing and PR talents to use in a way that benefits the youth of our community.
Best advice I ever received
My mom's favorite advice: "Pick your battles." This is applicable to so many situations and relationships. I choose to 'fight' the battles that impact more than just me.
