WOMEN TO WATCH

JENNY TEETER

SHAREHOLDER/DIRECTOR
GILL RAGON OWEN P.A.

I started as a law clerk at my firm over 10 years ago. At Gill Ragon Owen I found “my people,” and that I really enjoyed the transaction side of business law. Our firm is a family; from the attorneys to staff to our valued clients. The culture cannot be beat, and I have thoroughly enjoyed growing in my professional career surrounded by people I deeply respect and care for.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR:

Making partner at 30 was a huge achievement, of course, but winning my first administrative hearing was a big moment for me. After putting in all the hours, seeing the look on my client’s face made it all worthwhile.

BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED:

My parents taught me to lead with the sugar, not the spice. Starting conversations and relationships with a positive, caring attitude has helped tremendously in my dealings with clients, adverse parties, and regulatory agencies.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL WORKDAY LIKE?

I start the day checking email and making my daily task list. I spend most of the day on the phone with HR managers, medical providers, and business owners on contract and regulatory compliance and licensure issues.

HOW YOU DEFINE SUCCESS:

Personal and professional fulfillment. I have been lucky enough to find a career that challenges me to be my best self, and I actually enjoy going to work. On the personal front, being a good mother and partner is key.

HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO?

I’ve always loved research and a good debate, but it was actually my undergraduate advisor, Jay Barth, that led me to law school. He said my personality and skill set seemed to be a perfect fit. I’m so thankful to him.

FAVORITE PART OF LIVING IN LITTLE ROCK:

I love the simultaneously cosmopolitan and small-town feel. I can find amazing culture, shopping and then go down the road to a lake and mountain and enjoy nature with my family. Little Rock is also one of the friendliest cities.

MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB:

I love helping HR managers navigate tough legal issues. Equally, though, I love helping small business owners and practitioners open clinics and facilities that provide quality care to their communities.

WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL?

My grandmothers. They were both professional women who worked very hard to provide for their families while being amazing role models to their children through their community involvement. These ladies are tough cookies with hearts of gold.
