I moved to Little Rock in 2014 with the thought that I would return to Louisiana after my four-year residency program in dermatology at UAMS. Now as a dermatologist at Gibson Guthrie Dermatology, I could not be happier with the decision I made to make a permanent professional and family life here in Little Rock.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

Easy answer – my patients and my staff. The thing I love most about dermatology is I see all ages. I get to meet and take care of the whole family!
Best advice I ever received
Don’t wait for someone to tell you it’s okay to do something, just do it! This applies to so many facets in our life, and I think of this often.
My first job and what it taught me
My first job was as a gymnastics coach. It taught me discipline and determination. It also taught me to set goals and reach them.
Biggest challenges in my career
Staying up-to-date with all of the new technology/research. This was especially difficult during the pandemic when we could not attend conferences and dinners on the newest subject matter.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Go for a walk outside, take a break and hang out with my daughter, or call my mom.
How I knew this was my passion
I’ve wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. Dermatology specifically sparked my interest during my summers working with my aunt who is a family physician.
Best career moment so far
Matching into dermatology at UAMS. As my husband read me the email that stated “you matched,” I knew my dream of becoming a dermatologist would become a reality.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
Exercising, listening to music and socializing with friends and family.
