I’ve always been a creator and designer, so Robinson Lane Handmade Jewelry is a natural extension of my personality. Inspiration comes from all facets of life: travels, music, colors, textures. I use elements such as metal, artisan beads and reclaimed jewelry to create pieces that tell the story of where we have been and where we hope to go. I’m a believer that great design is a product of the heart as well as the hand.
I started creating jewelry for myself, and people would buy the necklaces off my neck! It wasn’t long before I took it full time. I love being my own boss and creating every single day.
A necklace I designed (Johnny Cash “I Keep A Close Watch on this Heart of Mine”) went viral and has 3 million pins on Pinterest — shipped to 14 countries and all 50 states. The lyric definitely resonates with women.
When faced with challenges and obstacles, don’t give up. Take your time, think outside the box, look for solutions that aren’t readily apparent, and be flexible.
The food scene in Little Rock blows me away! It’s flourished in the past couple of years. Even when I travel to bigger trendy cities I’m comparing their restaurants to what we have back home.
Play guitar! Music has always been an integral part of my life, but I don’t have a drop of actual musical talent. My husband plays and I love it when he serenades me.
Not to be so critical of myself. Once I understood this, it truly allowed me to be creative and willing to take risks in design and opportunities to grow my business.
I think for each person it’s different, but for me it’s being happy with who I am and my circumstances but also continuing to grow and stretch myself at the same time.
The relationships I have with people who buy from me! I love hearing their stories, and being able to create a piece of jewelry that is sentimental and meaningful to them. My customers truly are amazing.
