I am proud to be a part of James, House & Downing, P.A. I clerked for the firm during law school and was offered a position upon graduation. As a member of the firm for five years, I have worked on a wide variety of cases, with a focus in civil litigation. Our team is dedicated, aggressive when appropriate, energetic and results-oriented. Work aside, I feel fortunate to be part of an organization comprised of genuinely good people who give back to the community.
Winning the first case I tried on my own. It served as self-affirmation that is needed early on in this career. A satisfied client is always nice, too!
I always describe my favorite part of living in Little Rock as it being “big enough, but small enough.” It has a small-town vibe that is familiar and comfortable, but at the same time is big enough to impress.
It’s always different, and that’s what I love. Some days are office-intensive with emails, conference calls, research and writing. Some days include continuing education or being mentored. Some days there is the excitement of court or meeting with clients.
Helping people find solutions, even though that sounds cliché. People pay me so they do not have to worry. Taking stress away from a client and obtaining a favorable outcome, whether in a personal or business matter, is rewarding.
Balance. For me, it is very important to exceed our client’s expectations. I am a firm believer that healthy familial and friend relationships, along with taking care of myself physically, go hand-in-hand with professional success.
I have many role models, but right now my late father-in-law, Doug Swann, is on my mind. He was the epitome of a well-respected man in all aspects of his life who was dedicated to always lending a helping hand.
