My husband Richard “Ash” Mason and I own DARC. He started the company in 1996, and I joined him in 2008. DARC primarily trains U.S. Military Special Operation Forces, Law Enforcement Tactical Units and qualified civilians.
Recently, I was elected president of Women & Children First’s Peacekeepers group. We are a volunteer junior board, responsible for two fundraising events a year, and we spend our time volunteering at the shelter. The mission of WCF is very close to my heart, and I consider it a privilege to be involved!

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How did you know this is what you wanted to do?
I’ve always wanted to have a positive impact. Through my work at DARC and Women & Children First, I am a part of something that has impact. Something I do directly or indirectly benefits another person’s life.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
In the end, life is really very simple: Think well of yourself, love others, appreciate nature, give praise to your maker, use your unique gifts to make your corner of the world a better place.
If you could have lunch with any woman, who would it be and what would you order?
My Granny. She passed away 14 years ago and I miss her every day. We would have southern comfort food. Our favorite meal was always beans, cornbread and greens with a large piece of chocolate cake for dessert.
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Be patient and remember God’s in charge. Life goes according to his plan, not mine! I had some tough years and didn’t understand why. Now I get it; those hardships were blessings. I’m stronger and more compassionate because of them.
What is a typical workday like for you?
Every day is different, except having breakfast with Ash. Most days my time is split between DARC and WCF Peacekeepers. Some days one or the other requires all my attention. My schedule is unpredictable, but usually flexible! I love it!
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The impact DARC has on our clients — the positive differences our training has on them and their future. The training my husband provides saves lives. It’s about keeping families intact. Everyone we train is someone’s child, sibling, parent or spouse.
Best moment of your career so far?
The best moment of my time with WCF was having the honor of presenting Tiffany and Daniel Robinson the Peacekeepers Award at the 2015 Woman of the Year Gala. Oh, and getting Ash on the cover of Soldier of Fortune!
How do you define success?
Family! Encouraging my family to pursue their dreams and watching them reach their goals. Also, helping victims of domestic violence and their families rebuild their lives through WCF. Watching my family and the WCF families succeed is my greatest joy!
