I started working as an attorney at Gill Ragon Owen, P.A. after clerking there during law school. Our law firm works with all types of businesses to assist with transaction and litigation needs. I work with businesses on contract drafting/review and regulatory compliance. I primarily focus on labor and employment, commercial lending and real estate, health care regulatory compliance and nonprofit law. I counsel clients, locally and nationally, in an array of business matters.

I wasn’t sure when I started, but now that I’m in it, I love it. I love researching and being able to use that skill to help clients!
Biggest challenges in my career
Learning how to be more outgoing as a natural introvert. I've been challenged to get outside of my comfort zone.
My first job and what it taught me
A hostess. It taught me about accountability – how to show up on time and perform tasks, even when I’d rather be doing something else. It taught me about service and how to be kind when others weren’t.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
It isn’t always adversarial. Most times both sides of a transaction are all working together to reach a common goal.
Nonprofit I wish more people knew about
Sonshine Project. My mom has a nonprofit where she provides food and other household items to food-insecure families in central Arkansas. And Walk for Wheezy, a fundraiser in honor of Eloise Owen to support Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s CVICU.
Best career moment so far
Bringing in my first client.
A skill I never expected to need in this field

One practice I use to maintain my mental health
Windows-down drive with a good playlist!

What keeps me coming back to my job every day
Getting to do meaningful work. And working with co-workers who have become my friends.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Pause. Grab a snack. Talk to a friend. Then reassess.
