WOMEN TO WATCH

Audra Pettus

Director of Interior Design
Pettus Office Interiors

I began my career at Pettus Office Interiors after completing my design degree at UCA in 2012. We provide the entire experience for commercial office furniture from design, space planning, sales, and installation. I collaborate directly with clients, architects, and designers to capture each organization’s vision for its workplace. I truly believe the office environment should correlate directly with a company’s identity and brand, and I strive every day to assist in achieving this goal.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

How did you know this is what you wanted to do?

Ever since I began my college career, I wanted to be in the design field. Once I graduated, I knew I wanted to focus on commercial design. Also, I love the sales function of my job because I get to interact with clients on a daily basis.

What advice would you give your 18 year old self?

At times, you may not understand where life is taking you, but you will always end up exactly where you’re supposed to be.

What is a typical workday like?

It changes every day. Some days it’s meeting with clients. Other days it’s working on designs for projects. Some days it’s answering emails and phone calls. Other days it’s being on-site for a project installation.

Most rewarding part of your job:

Making the client happy and seeing the vision of their work space take shape. How you define success: Having a healthy balance between being a good mother and wife and my career is how I define success. Who is your role model? My dad because he taught me the value of hard work, how to be there for your family, and to always treat others with respect.

Best career moment so far:

Helping our company have our largest year in 2016 was a very rewarding moment in my career.

Best advice you’ve ever received:

Don’t be afraid to ask; the worst they can say is no.

If you could lunch with any woman, who would it be?

My husband’s grandmother. Unfortunately, I never got to meet her, and I have heard great things about her. She watched him growing up, and I would love to hear her version of the stories he tells me.
