I fell in love with group fitness when I was a stay-at-home mom with small babies. It gave me an outlet for my physical, mental and emotional health, and it gave me the opportunity to have some adult interaction each day. When Catherine Thorpe asked me to join her Full Out Barre staff as an instructor, I was thrilled and it was an immediate yes! Then when the opportunity arose to open my own location for the women in Saline County, I knew I wanted to do it.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
As a psychology major, I've always been interested in mental health. When I discovered the significant impact exercise (and specifically exercise done in community with others) does for your mental health, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Not everyone in the fitness industry is concerned about weight loss. Some of us believe you can be healthy at any size and are more concerned with the way you see yourself and the way you feel than the number on the scale.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Step out of my own head by brainstorming with my team.
Biggest challenges in my career
COVID-19! A global pandemic has been a curveball for sure. Having to course-correct, take my business virtual and adjust plans almost daily has challenged me to stay flexible, think on my toes and get creative.
I wish someone told me at the start of my career
Some days will be really hard and you will question whether you should be doing this. Don't filter your entire career through the lens of one bad day. Get through that day or season by doing the next right thing.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
The inspiring women who step through my doors each day never cease to amaze me. My clients and staff are incredibly strong and brave, and the community we have is life-giving.
