After practicing law for five years, I joined CARE as its Executive Director. I had been a longtime volunteer for the organization, chairing its special events and serving on its board of directors. CARE’s mission is to rescue and rehome cats and dogs facing euthanasia in shelters in Central Arkansas and to provide low-cost spay/neuter options. As the Executive Director, I am charged with promoting the organization’s mission through programs, strategic planning, and community-outreach efforts. I oversee CARE’s day-to-day operations and am very passionate about the work that CARE does.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
Best career moment so far:
I am honored to serve on the Arkansas Ethics Commission. My appointment to the commission has been the highlight of my career, and I enjoy being able to apply my legal training while serving the people of Arkansas.
Favorite part of living in Little Rock?
My favorite part of living in Little Rock is the tennis community. It is a wonderfully competitive and close-knit group, and I have made so many amazing new friends through playing team tennis.
How did you know this is what you wanted to do?
I grew up with pets ranging from hermit crabs to hedgehogs and have always loved animals, especially dogs. I joined CARE because I saw an opportunity to help grow the organization and share my passion for animal rescue with others.
What advice would you give your 18 year old self?
Travel! You have your whole life to be an adult and work. Take time off from school; there is no rush to grow up! You are only young once, and traveling teaches independence and provides perspective.
Most rewarding part of your job:
Nothing is more rewarding than adoption day. I love watching pets find their forever homes. I am not only happy for the pets but also for the families who will experience the love that those rescue pets can offer.
I wish I knew how to__________.
I wish I played an instrument. I sing and would love to be able to play my favorite songs. My parents encouraged me to learn piano, but I did not stick with it. I hope they do not read this!
Biggest challenges or obstacles you’ve faced in your career:
You can’t save them all. I try to remember that, while saving one dog may not change the world, for that one dog, the world will be forever changed.
Who is your role model?
My parents and sister have instilled in me the importance of working hard to achieve your goals. I have watched them celebrate successes while handling disappointments with grace. They inspire me to always challenge myself and are my role models.
