WOMEN TO WATCH

Ari Crum

Owner & Creative Director
Evergreen Designs

I entered the wedding and event industry more than 20 years ago after leaving the corporate world. Three years ago, I founded Evergreen Designs, a concierge floral and event design company focused on creating elevated, personalized experiences. Giving back is at the core of our work. We are proud to support organizations such as the AHA, Home for Healing and Our House.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

How I knew this was my passion

The moment I saw how something I created could completely transform a space and make people feel something. It feels natural and deeply fulfilling.

Best advice I ever received

To trust myself enough to step outside of my comfort zone. Some of my biggest opportunities came from moments that felt uncertain, but believing in myself made all the difference.

A skill I never expected to need in this field

This field has pushed me beyond design into entrepreneurship, where I’ve learned to trust my voice, make decisions and grow something meaningful.

Best career moment so far

Co-creating and launching the Diamonds & Studs program benefiting Home for Healing, watching an idea turn into something that’s already impacted dozens of students through service education and giving back.

What I learned from my first job

As a lifeguard, I learned responsibility, quick decision-making and how to stay calm under pressure, skills that still guide me in both business and life.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

It’s not just playing with flowers. It’s running a business, managing details and creating meaningful experiences all at once.

Biggest challenges in my career

Balancing the demands of entrepreneurship while raising a family, being a present wife and staying deeply rooted in philanthropy.

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

I truly love what I do. No two days are the same, and I get to be part of some of the most joyful and emotional moments in people’s lives.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

Intentionally spending quality time with my family. In the middle of busy seasons, they keep me grounded and remind me what truly matters.

The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall

Take a step back and lean on my husband Ben. He is my calm, my steady voice, and he helps me gain perspective so I can move forward with intention.
