Getting the opportunity to work at Winrock International, I was thrilled to work for a unique organization that provides such a diverse and non-traditional role for an accountant. Beginning my career briefly as a project accountant, I transitioned to a more corporate-accounting focus, on to treasury-management, and most recently to Director of Global Finance, where I oversee the majority of our General Ledger and Treasury Management functions. I also have the pleasure of working with our Board of Directors. My most important job, however, is Mom to my beautiful daughter.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
Best career moment so far:
Visiting my first project site in Indonesia. It was enlightening to see how the work I was doing in Arkansas stretched all the way to Indonesia. From that day forward, it wasn’t just about coming to a job every day.
If you could lunch with any woman, who would it be?
Sheryl Sandberg. I read her book a few years ago and admired her ability to discuss the challenges for women in business, her ability to relate to being a working mom, and her views on success in executive roles.
What is a typical workday like?
First, coffee. Second, review account activity and budget for short-term cash flow necessities. After that, it’s a balance between getting to meetings, replying to emails, addressing needs from one-off discussions, and working on long-term objectives focused on increased productivity/efficiency.
How you define success:
To me, success is when you’ve found true happiness with yourself. You can be proud of who you are regardless of your title, salary, social class, friend circle, etc.
Who is your role model?
My Mom. She somehow perfected the fine line between maintaining a close friendship with your child while still earning their respect, something I hope to mirror with my own daughter. I have watched her battle and beat cancer, retire as a respected teacher, and become the best Mimi to my daughter. She’s not just my role model, but my shoulder in too many times of need, my rock when I couldn’t stand on my own two feet, and my very best friend.
Best advice you’ve ever received:
The best advice I’ve ever received is to love what you do. When you love what you do, it never feels like work.
Favorite part of living in Little Rock?
I love the small town feel without having to sacrifice most of the luxuries you have in a bigger city.
Most rewarding part of your job:
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing/reading/hearing the stories about our direct beneficiaries and what abilities and opportunities they gain from the work Winrock does every day.
