WOMEN TO WATCH

Amy Bradley-Hole

Studio Manager
WLR Yoga

My friend Robin Connell decided to open a yoga studio last year. She already runs a successful company, so I was thrilled when she asked me to handle the studio’s operations. At WLR Yoga, I support an amazing group of students and teachers.

Our motto is “For all people and all paths,” and we’re committed to that. My main focus is creating a space where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. I’ve also recently become an end-of-life doula. I’ll be helping people navigate one of life’s scariest, yet most important transitions.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

How I knew this was my passion

It's hard not to be passionate about something that's had such a beneficial impact on my life. I took my first yoga class more than 13 years ago, and it's been the filter through which I've viewed the world ever since.

I wish someone told me at the start of my career

That it's always OK to say, "I don't know" or "I need help." Doing so helps you be transparent and connect with others. It also helps you learn new skills and prevents you from really screwing things up.

A skill I never expected to need in this field

Being receptive. I need to listen much more than I need to talk. When you really pay attention to what people are telling (or not telling) you, you can do a better job of giving them what they need.

Biggest challenges in my career

Discovering what I'm best at and then staying true to it. I can't be everything to everyone. And there are lots of trends and fads in the wellness industry. I don't have to chase after all of them.

Nonprofit I wish more people knew about

Yoga in the Rock.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

That yoga is for everyone. It's not about exercise, and it's not just for those who are already active or fit. Yoga is about so much more than the physical body. Its benefits are far-reaching and anyone can enjoy them.
