I currently lead all communications and marketing for Thea Foundation, an arts-based nonprofit that enhances arts education in Arkansas through professional development for teachers and funding supplies and materials for K-12 public school classrooms. We also hold annual scholarship competitions, which provide high school seniors an opportunity to earn money for their higher education goals based on their talent alone. Before this role, I spent years in the advertising industry in Little Rock at agencies with dynamic teams enhancing design and garnering results for clients in-state and across the country.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
I wish someone told me at the start of my career
It would’ve been nice to know that most of my experience would be gained through simple trial and error while navigating evolving projects at small agencies. It was challenging work I was humbled by and will always be grateful for.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
The kids! Visiting classrooms that have benefited from Thea’s programs and seeing bold high school students compete in our scholarship competitions continues to show me the unique effect the arts have. I also love my coworkers and their collective dedication.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
I hard unplug and travel. I’ve taken very limited PTO over the years, but I know when I’ve hit a point where I absolutely need to get away. Like most, my work ethic really benefits from being recharged.
How I knew this was my passion
I’ve always been drawn to advertising, and I’ve been blessed to explore different areas of the industry before Thea Foundation. This role feels right because I believe every child has creative potential and is deserving of resources to express themselves.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Curation. Another part of my current role is curating artist exhibitions in Thea’s gallery, and it’s so exciting to be able to amplify local artists and bring well-deserved attention to their work.
