I am the CFO of my family business, Lumber One Home Center, where I began after graduating from college in 2011. We are a retail building material supplier with a focus on commercial and residential contractor sales. I have gained invaluable experience and adaptability in a business that is growing and changing rapidly.

How did you know this is what you wanted to do?

Working for my family business was a natural fit for me. As an only child, it has allowed me to learn and grow with a business that will be in my family hopefully for many years to come.

Best advice you’ve ever received:

Always conduct yourself with the utmost honesty and integrity — the blessings will be reaped ten-fold.

What advice would you give your 18 year old self?

Take a close look at the women that you admire and make conscious steps in your life to become that type of gal! And don’t sweat the small stuff; most of it won’t matter a bit in the long run.

How you define success:

Achieving success, for me, is being truly content in life, personally and professionally. We are always striving for more, but being honestly happy in your career and in your personal life is a sign of success in my book.

If you could lunch with any woman, who would it be?

Condoleezza Rice. Her no-excuses, knows-no-limits approach to her career and life is totally inspiring.

Who is your role model?

Definitely my parents. My dad has built our business into what it is today on sheer determination and hard work. I admire his humility and honesty. My mom has a God-given gift of words. She has given me an enormous amount of life-shaping advice. They are the ultimate pair. I would not be who I am today without the strong foundation that they gave me to build on.
