After living in Washington, D.C. for several years, I came home to pursue my J.D. at the Bowen School of Law and my M.P.S. at the Clinton School of Public Service. I’ve worked at the Arkansas Court of Appeals since 2015, and I’m now running for an open seat on that court, continuing my passion for public service.

Babysitting taught me the importance of hard work, patience, humility and discipline. I’m so proud (thanks to their parents) those “kids” have now grown into productive members of our community!

More often than not, lawyers are collegial and extremely helpful in resolving conflicts.

“Phone a friend” In most cases, that means calls to my husband or my parents!

Nonprofit I wish more people knew about

Camp Aldersgate, a nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals with special needs in a camp environment. Its impact is transformative.

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

The Court of Appeals is often the court of last resort for many, and the appeals range from civil to criminal, and everything in between. It’s interesting and important work.

Best career moment so far

Announcing my intention to run for the Arkansas Court of Appeals. I have been humbled and honored by the outpouring of support people have shown.

A skill I never expected to need in this field

I never realized how much technology would play a role in my day-to-day work. While I am a people person, I am grateful that it keeps us connected, even remotely.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

I’m beginning yoga and am learning that breathing techniques and stretching are quite beneficial!
