I have always worked in the retail industry in some capacity. Each job has prepared me in different ways for what I do today. The Barbara/Jean experience is all about customer service and knowledge of the industry as a whole. I research and buy new luxury clothing lines each season taking into consideration trends and missions that align with Barbara/Jean’s brand and customer base. Many client relationships are also friendships and I value them!
This is a career if you make it one. Retail is sometimes considered a transient career, but in sales and buying, it's what you make it. Focus on customers and their experience and make it the best you can.
My brain is usually going 100 places at once, and focusing on a singular goal has never been my strong suit. I wear many hats and sometimes it's hard for me to tie things up.
Adjust my attitude.
I work with a diverse group of women. There is no mold for anyone to fit in. I want to give the Barbara/Jean experience to as many different types of people as possible.
I've been drawn to fashion since I was a child, but I never considered the possibility of making it a career. It's cliche, but what you love is usually what you're good at. Doing it doesn't feel like work!
I love the South. The culture, diversity, food, music. It feels like home because of family, friends and community. I also have a passion for several local nonprofits.
My goal is to make women feel good about themselves. Women have enough going on, worrying about what to wear shouldn't be one of them. It's rewarding to know someone trusts your knowledge and leaves feeling like a better version of themselves.
Definitely my first buying trip to Europe. I went alone to buy for our designer department and it was an incredible, yet challenging trip. Never would I dream this is something I would be able to do!
