I am an obstetrician-gynecologist and I work for CHI St. Vincent. My clinic name is St. Vincent Women’s Clinic. I attended college at UA Little Rock and completed medical school and residency at UAMS. I was an assistant professor at UAMS for five years before entering private practice.

How I knew this was my passion:

I always knew I wanted to be a doctor. After I delivered the first baby, I was hooked. It was such an adrenaline rush. I knew I had to do this for the rest of my life.

Best advice I ever received:

My mother used to tell me to never give up. She encouraged me to accomplish every goal I’ve ever had.

Biggest challenges in my career:

It was definitely my greatest and most rewarding challenge to have my children during my residency and first years of practice. I know it made me a better doctor for the women I take care of.

How I define success:

I define success as looking forward to the job you do every day and balancing that career with being the mother, friend and partner you want to be.

Most rewarding part of my job:

I enjoy all aspects of women’s health care, but nothing can ever beat the feeling of seeing the happiness on someone’s face when they meet their newborn baby.

Favorite part of living in Little Rock:

It’s a beautiful city. I’ve lived here for 26 years. I love the many activities this town offers. I love that the people are laid-back, friendly and proud of our city. There is no place I’d rather raise my family.

My typical workday:

Wake up at 5:30 a.m., have my coffee and watch the news, race to get my three kids off to school, then surgery or clinic, possibly deliver a baby, get home around 5 p.m.

My role model:

My role model was my mother. I lost her last year after a difficult battle with cancer. She was without a doubt the strongest, most intelligent and compassionate person I’ve ever known.
