Why did you go into the cosmetic business?
As a young girl, I remember being fascinated with all these cool, beautiful bottles and cases on my mom’s bathroom counter. Both she and my big sister instilled in me from a very young age just how important a simple, yet consistent, skin care regimen was to having great skin for life, so I guess the beauty business is just in my blood. I got into makeup artistry in my early 20s and went to esthetician school shortly after that. Building my own business came a few years later, but I come from a line of entrepreneurs and love a good challenge, so that’s in my blood too. The stars aligned for me … and now I get to pick out all the beautiful bottles on our shelves at Winc!
What sets Winc apart from other beauty stores?
The beauty world can be a really intimidating place, and I’ve never loved that aspect of it, so our goal at Winc is to help demystify cosmetics and skin care and create simple, effective regimens for our clients. I personally choose each line we carry, and I have tried them all. We don’t carry stuff that doesn’t work, and we focus on clean and easy skin care and makeup that won’t break the bank. We’re also big on communication in the treatment room, whether that’s for a relaxing facial or our award-winning lash extensions. We want our clients to be happy, relaxed and feel their best when they walk out our door.
What do you love about your job?
There are so many things! I love working in an ever-changing, growing industry where there’s always something new to learn. I love meeting new people and creating wonderful friendships with clients. I love my staff and our little Winc family. Ultimately though, the most rewarding thing is that mirror moment clients have when they get out of my chair and are wowed by their results! It’s the BEST feeling making someone else’s day a little brighter.
