Win Tickets to Ballet Arkansas’ ‘Visions’ Performance

For the second season in a row, Ballet Arkansas is featuring a show where you get to be a judge and the best part, we’re giving away a pair of tickets.

“Visions Choreographic Competition” features five emerging choreographers from around the country. More than 30 applied and these five made this year’s lineup: Boston Ballet’s Boyko Dossev, former Houston Ballet’s Ilya Kozadayev, former Ballet West and Visceral Dance Chicago’s Tom Mattingly, former Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Barry Kerollis and Post: Ballet’s Aidan DeYoung.

Contest: Go to our Facebook page to enter the giveaway. It ends at 6:30 p.m. today, Aug. 11 and the winner will be announced at 7 p.m.

Ballet Arkansas’s Artistic Director, Michael Bearden, who we featured in our January issue, created this event as a platform for choreographers to showcase their works to audiences and the dance company.

“Visions” will take place at the UALR Center for Performing Arts on Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.

There will be four judges for this event. The audience will serve as one judge, while the three others will be professionals in the local and national dance community.

The winner receives a contract with Ballet Arkansas and will be brought back to expand their winning short piece into a full 15-minute work to be performed at the company’s spring mixed repertory show, “Under the Lights,” next May at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre.
