Whole Foods Market Releases Details on New Location

Hungry for a Whole Foods update? You got it.

We recently told you about the opening date for the brand spanking new Whole Foods Market, which is at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in case you forgot.

Currently located in The Village at Pleasant Valley shopping center on Rodney Parham, Whole Foods had a little problem with elbow room, so they decided to upgrade to a 34,000-SF location at the intersection of Bowman and Chenal.

“We will provide only the highest quality of natural and organic products available, offered by genuine team members specializing in authentic ‘Southern Hospitality’ with each guest and each other,” Whole Foods said about the Little Rock market on its website.

That’s all well and good, but we know you’ve been itching for details, and we finally have some for you. Whole Foods is expanding its offerings of natural and organic products, as well as a coffe and juice bar and beer and wine bar.

Here’s a taste of the full list of features:

  • Enhanced prepared foods grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and dinner options
  • Electric car charging station and bike racks
  • Hot barbecue bar featuring meats smoked in-store
  • Store lighting that automatically dims based on light use from 21 skylights
  • Expanded (4X!) seafood department (they’ll cut, fillet, season and debone your fish for free – just ask!)
  • Self-serve pizza
  • Reclaimed wood gym bleachers repurposed as a bar countertop
  • Signature sandwich menu created just for Little Rock, with build-your-own-sandwich options
  • Indoor and outdoor community seating
  • Reclaimed barn wood throughout the store

Instead of ribbon cutting ceremonies, Whole Foods hosts bread-breaking ceremonies. The west Little Rock store will hold the ceremony at 7:30 a.m. on opening day, with specials, entertainment, activities and tastings all day. Plus, if you’re one of the first 500 customers, you get a free Whole Foods reusable shopping bag.
