Five Places to Celebrate National Hamburger Day Today

It doesn’t get more American than this, folks. Today is National Hamburger Day and we are ready to celebrate. Of course, this occasion requires an obligatory roundup of our favorite burgers in Little Rock because we want you to make good choices today. Here are our favorites!

Capital Bar & Grill

Capital Bar & Grill: We’re going to start off with our staff’s overwhelming favorite. Fortunately for our tastebuds (and unfortunately for our waistlines), CBG is within walking distance of our office and we are there on the regular. I always — because I have zero willpower — order the burger with pimento cheese along with a side of parmerson fries and, wait for it, the truffled bernaise sauce to dip said fries into before inhaling. Also, the housemade pickles are fantastic. We apologize in advance if you’ve witnessed our lunch etiquette.

The Root: This place does everything well, including the burger. All the beef is local and pasture-raised and the housemade mayo is spectacular. Served on buns from Boulevard Bread Co., which is located directly across the street, ensures everything is always fresh.

Big Orange

Big Orange: A chic spot in west Little Rock and Midtown, it serves up some pretty spectacular gourmet burgers with unique flavor combinations like the White Truffle Pecorino (Pecorino cheese, arugula, fig jam, and white truffle, and mayo) and my favorite, the Petit Jean Bacon & Avocado (American cheese, petit jean bacon, avocado, butter leaf lettuce, tomato, and mayo).

Cotham’s

Cotham’s: Home of the hubcap burger, which needs no introduction, this downtown eatery never disappoints. Arrive hungry. And while you’re there, be sure to order the fried pickles as an appetizer.

David’s Burgers

David’s BurgersAny place that has delicious burgers and refills your fries for free is top-notch in our book.

For later:

Hillcrest Artisan Meats (H.A.M.): If you can’t make it out today to grab a burger, make plans to hit up H.A.M tomorrow. Every Friday, this local butcher shop fries up 30 burgers (that’s it!) and we can assure you that their beef — from free-range cows — is pretty amazing and worth getting in line early for.

We will definitely hit up one of these places today. Share your favorite spots with us on Instagram! Use #heysoiree and we’ll regram some of your posts!
