Somehow it’s July and that means we’re due for another dose of local art, culture and business for 2nd Friday Art Night.
For the uninitiated, 2FAN, or 2nd Friday Art Night, is a monthly event that takes place in downtown Little Rock where various art galleries and shops stay open late and host special events. All of this month’s activities are virtual, except for the Old State House Museum.
Here’s a peek at all the fun happenings during this month’s lineup:
Historic Arkansas Museum: Learn to make a Watermelon Fizz mocktail, talk with renowned photographer Tim Hursley about his Muskogee House series and enjoy live music with Lori and Phil of Fire and Brimstone starting at 6:30 p.m.
CALS: Test your Natural State knowledge with Encylopedia of Arkansas trivia, learn about the Mid-Southern Watercolorists Founders Wall and enjoy music during the Sounds in the Stacks series.
Old State House Museum: Three ensembles from the US Army 106th band (The 5 Star Brass Quintet, the Arkansas First Ceremonial Band and a Jazz Combo) will take over the lawn at the Old State House Museum. They are set to play from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Families are invited to bring blankets and chairs for socially distanced set up on the lawn. Please wear masks.
UA Little Rock Downtown: UA Little Rock Downtown will be showcasing works from the “Landscapes” exhibition from the UA Little Rock Permanent Art Collection.
Nexus Coffee & Creative: Spotlighting local creatives, Nexus will host their 2nd Friday Art Night on Facebook Live from 5-7:30 p.m. Expect to see goods from McFarland Woodworks, Van’s Local Honey and Come Alive Studios.
