What to Expect at the 2022 Six Bridges Book Festival

Get excited, bookworms. The Six Bridges Book Festival has released the speaker lineup for its 2022 event, with more than 60 authors joining the literary fun Oct. 20-30.

Formerly known as the Arkansas Literary Festival, Six Bridges is hosted by the Central Arkansas Library System and is the state’s premier gathering of readers and writers from around the world. The 19th annual fest will be a mix of in-person and virtual events, with approximately two thirds held at various CALS branches and venues around the metro.

“After two years of a mostly virtual festival, we’ve worked hard to fashion a hybrid event that provides scope, depth and a ton of fun,” festival coordinator Brad Mooy says.

The agenda features New York Times bestsellers, a deep dive into “The Shining” and everything in between. The full schedule of events will be announced in September, but until then, here are a few of the highlights:

  • Rooftop party to kick off the festival
  • False Negative: An Evening with John Waters
  • Exhibit of Oliver Jeffers, author/illustrator of “The Day the Crayons Quit,” “How to Catch A Star,” “Here We Are”
  • Charly Palmer, author/illustrator of “The Legend of Gravity”
  • James Gavin, author of “George Michael: A Life” + a tribute concert with George Michael Reborn
  • Kim Wehle, author of “How to Think Like a Lawyer—and Why”
  • Ann Patchett, author of “These Precious Days,” “Bel Canto,” “Commonwealth,” “The Dutch House”
  • Six Bridges Market
  • Charcuterie workshop with Lauren Thomas, author of “The Modern Hippie Table”
  • Sam Quinones, author of “The Least of Us: True Tales of America and Hope in the Time of Fentanyl and Meth”
  • Richard Gallagher, author of “Demonic Foes: My Twenty-Five Years as a Psychiatrist Investigating Possessions, Diabolic Attacks, and the Paranormal” + a screening of “The Exorcist”

There’s much more in store from authors, performers and local businesses this October. Learn more about the lineup on the Six Bridges website, and follow the fest on Facebook and Twitter for updates.
