What to Drink at Your Tailgating Party

In case you missed the memo, the Razorbacks are rolling into town this week to take on the Florida A&M Rattlers at War Memorial Stadium.

While Hogs fans are hoping for a great start to the season, we snagged some tips from Colonial Wine & Spirits on how to make successful tailgating a sure thing. Take it from the experts and load up on these convenient (and quality) pairings.

If you like beer, reach for Southern Drawl by Great Raft Brewing.

This pilsner is so versatile it will go with just about anything you can bring to the tailgate. Find more craft brews at Colonial’s growler station.

If you like bourbon, reach for Bulleit.

Pour it up just the way you like and enjoy it with baby back ribs, nicely marbled ribeye or spicy buffalo wings.

If you like tequila, reach for Herradura Silver.

Enjoy a shot when your team scores (or when the opposing team fumbles) or mix into pitchers of margaritas. It goes well with salsa and chips, spicy grilled skirt steak, ceviche and other spicy dishes.

If you like wine, reach for Black Box.

Cabernet sauvignon: Big and hearty, pair this with steaks and burgers right off the grill or with pizza right off the delivery vehicle.

Merlot: A little more forward fruit and not quite as tannic, this wine pairs well with pork, veal, charcuterie and cheese.

Chardonnay: Pair with grilled chicken with lemon and rosemary, chicken with red pepper aioli sandwiches, fish and seafood.

Sauvignon blanc: This is perfect with grilled vegetables, basil risotto and fish seasoned with fresh herbs.

If you like practicality, reach for a pre-mixed cocktail.

We recommend Jose Cuervo Golden (think grapefruit and strawberry margaritas) and Jose Cuervo Authentics (think mango, watermelon, classic lime, strawberry lime, grapefruit tangerine, coconut pineapple, light wild berry, light classic lime and light white peach).
