Weekend To-Do List: 7 Jolly Events to Deck Your Halls

It’s not as aggressive as it sounds, but our holiday meal plan sure is. Pass the hot chocolate.

Thursday, December 22

Hot Chocolate Pajama Run at Go! Running, Little Rock: Button up those jammie-jams, this weekly group run is getting festive. The Heights and Hillcrest will get the perfect view of your best flannels as you complete 2, 3, 4 or 5.5 miles through the neighborhoods at your own pace. Pro tip: You should definitely layer up under the jammies. It’s cold out there, y’all. So to help you warm up, there will be hot chocolate waiting for you when you get back. BYO-Christmas “spirits,” if you catch our (snow)drift. The pack sets out at 6 p.m. For more info, click here.

Christmas Light Cruise with Bobby’s Bike Hike in downtown Little Rock: What better way to see the holiday happenings than by a two-wheeled, self-propelled, open sleigh? Bike, we mean by bike. The River Market bicycle rental shop is hosting a casual ride around the neighborhood to see the best lights and sights. Fun seasonal attire is encouraged on this family-friendly ride that begins and ends at Bobby’s. The ride is free, but they’re accepting donations to Recycle Bikes for Kids. Don’t have a bike? No worries, you can rent one for $10. The ride begins at 6:30 p.m. For more info, click here.

Friday, December 23

Festivus at the Firehouse Hostel & Museum, Little Rock: Attention, the rest of us — your holiday has arrived. Come celebrate this all-inclusive gathering (yes, the one from “Seinfeld”) in MacArthur park with the unadorned aluminum pole and the traditional meatloaf and spaghetti, along with bacon-wrapped ham and BYO-side dishes. And of course you’ll be able to to take part in the airing of grievances and feats of strength, but you’re definitely going to hear about it. The Festivus festivities last from 5-10 p.m. For more info, click here.

Argenta Arts Collaborative at Barry Thomas Art & Studio, North Little Rock: This Argenta gallery may be brand new, but we already like where it’s headed. To celebrate the season and the studio, the gallery team is thanking patrons by bringing together violinist Lenore McIntyre, guitarist Ted Ludwig and painter Barry Thomas for an evening full of the arts. It starts at 5 p.m. For more info, click here.

Saturday, December 24

3rd Annual Christmas Eve Karaoke at Stone’s Throw Brewing, Little Rock: Up for a little singing, but need a bit of liquid Christmas courage to get the pipes running? Done and done. After a successful run last year, Stone’s Throw Brewing’s now-annual carol-oke is back on Christmas Eve. Grab your friends, take the stage, chow down at the Luncheria Mexicana Alicia food truck parked outside and enjoy the brew (we suggest the Mocha Dark Helmet). Once you sing your little heart out, we know it’ll grow three sizes that day. The fun lasts from 6-10 p.m. For more info, click here.

Christmas Eve Yoga at Yoga Studio of Little Rock: Yikes. All that holiday food doing a number on you, huh? Well, since you’re already in your weekend stretchy pants, start your Saturday with this two hour yoga session that’s suitable for all expertise levels. You can even bring your out-of-town guests with you. Chill out, work out and earn that extra piece(s) of cheesecake. The class begins at 9 a.m. For more info, click here.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” at Regal Movie Theaters in Little Rock and North Little Rock: You already know George Bailey changes his tune and you already know Clarence gets his wings, but you still love this movie and we don’t blame you. Come watch ol’ Georgie find his way on the big screen. Showtimes are at noon and 7 p.m. at the Breckenridge location, or at noon at the McCain Mall location. For more info, click here.
