Thursday (Aug. 21)
Lecture and Late Night at Arkansas Arts Center, Ninth & Commerce streets, Little Rock: Victor Ekpuk will speak on creating a wall-szied drawing in paint markers. Around the World at the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock: Every third Thursday of the month, Forty Two at the Clinton Presidential Center takes guests on a tour of a country around the world. The night includes a dive into the sights, sounds and flavors of the featured country, including a five-course tasting menu and cultural entertainment. Friday (Aug. 22)
Taste of the Finest at Metroplex Event Center, 10800 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock: More than 20 up-and-comers from Little Rock and the surrounding area will be honored for their work and support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Arkansas. The night will include an array of diverse cuisines, wine, beer and dancing, in addition to a silent auction. There will also be a live performance from Tragikly White. Tickets are $75. Saturday (Aug. 23)
Jointstock 2014 at The Joint, 301 Main St., Suite 102, North Little Rock: This all-day arts festival features live music, improv, stand up comedians, art, crafts, raffle and a silent auction, just to name a few. Friday-Saturday (Aug. 22-23)
The Beauty Queen of Leenane at The Weekend Theater, 1001 W. 7th St., Little Rock: This play, co-winner of the Lortel Award in 1998 for outstanding play, is set in the mountains of Ireland. It’s a dark comedy about Maureen Folan, a lonely woman in her 40s, and Mag, who is Maureen’s manipulative mother. Tickets to the show are $16 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Friday-Sunday (Aug. 22-24)
A Series of One Acts at Community Theatre, 320 W. 7th St., Little Rock: The first show of the Community Theatre of Little Rock’s 59th season opens Friday. “A Series of One Acts” features “The Actor’s Nightmare” by Christopher Durango, “Private Wars” by James McLure, “Ways and Means” by Noel Coward, “30 Minutes to Charlie” by Nick Zagone.
