Girls on the Run at Go! Running, 1819 N. Grant St., Little Rock: Come run, predict your time and have a chance to win prizes. Routes will be 3, 4, and 5 1/2 miles. Guesses are $5 each. “Wait Until Dark” Preshow Director Talks at Arkansas Repertory Theatre, 601 Main St., Little Rock: The Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s next production is “Wait Until Dark.” The show starts Friday and runs through Nov. 9. On Thursday, Producing Artistic Director Bob Hupp and members of the creative team will hold a preshow talk from 6:15-6:45 p.m. Also, from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Clinton School of Public Service, Hupp will host the cast from the production for a panel discussion.
Saturday (Oct. 25)
Final Day at Little Rock Farmers Market at River Market Pavilions, 400 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock: Believe it or not, this Saturday is the last day of the season for the Little Rock Farmers Market. That means you have to get down to the River Market one last time this weekend. In addition to the food for sale, the market is hosting Fall Fest 2014, which means there will be face-painting, pumpkin and craft decorating, and trick-or-treating. Mud Run at Two Rivers Park, 6900 Two Rivers Road, Little Rock: If you’re looking for a 5k that is more fun than work, you’ll want to check out the Mud Run this weekend. Spoiler: There’s a 300-foot mud pit. And don’t worry, this isn’t your strict running friend’s 5k. This isn’t timed and the fastest time doesn’t get anything special. World Cheese Dip Championship at The Bernice Garden, 1401 S. Main St., Little Rock: Honestly, they had us at cheese. It’s back, y’all. It’s time for the fourth annual World Cheese Dip Championship, right here in the capital city. If you want to pit your cheese dip against the stiffest competition, go ahead. 2014 Stand UP to Bullying Arts & Film Festival at Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock: October is National Bullying Awareness Month, therefore, the Central Arkansas Library System is hosting a performing arts festival Saturday to bring awareness to the issue. The day’s events include readings, plays and music, in addition to a free screening of the 2011 documentary, “Bully.” It’s a pay-what-you-can event that goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, click here.
Mac-O-Lanterns at MacArthur Park, 601 E. 9th St., Little Rock: Artists and pumpkin carvers will wield their skills on their pumpkins and battle for prizes. Silent Sunday at Statehouse Convention Center, 101 E. Markham St., Little Rock: This annual event, sponsored by the Central Arkansas Independent Restaurant Operators, brings together the region’s best independent restaurants, and their signature dishes, in the biggest tasting buffet in the state. Even better, the event’s proceeds go toward technology programs at the Arkansas School for the Deaf. Tickets are $25, in advance, for adults and $12 for kids, ages 6-12. Conversations with Arkansas Governors: Mike Huckabee at Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock: In a series presented by the Central Arkansas Library System, former Gov. “Wait Until Dark” at Arkansas Repertory Theatre, 601 Main St., Little Rock: In step with the Halloween holiday lurking upon us, The Rep’s next production is a thriller dubbed “Wait Until Dark.” The Tony Award-nominated play, written by Frederick Nott and directed by Robert Hupp, follows a sinister con man, two ex-convicts and Susy, a blind woman who knows something is not quite right. You might recognize the title as an Audrey Hepburn movie, and you’d be right. It was adapted to film in 1967. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 & 7 p.m. Sunday. Boo at the Zoo at Little Rock Zoo, One Zoo Drive, Little Rock: The yearly Halloween event is back at the Little Rock Zoo for the 23rd year. New this year is a haunted train ride and criminal critters. There’s plenty of other activities, including bounce houses, Frankenstein’s Dance Party and a haunted house.
