Nothing gets us excited like putting together this weekend-to-do list each Thursday. Why? Because that means it’s almost Friday and we get to throw our hats in the air when the bell rings at 5 p.m. tomorrow. Let’s get social.
Here’s what made this week’s lineup:
Thursday (Sept. 18)
Around the World at Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock: It’s time for another Around the World night at the Clinton Presidential Center. This time, enjoy sights, sounds and flavors from the Southern Renaissance in the United States. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner service begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $27.95 per person. Lecture and Late Night at Arkansas Arts Center, Ann Prentice Wagner will discuss “New Lines: The 12th National Drawing Invitational.” In addition, there will be an exhibition that features graphic works by eight artists. A reception is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by the lecture at 6 p.m. The galleries and restaurant are open until 9 p.m. Tickets are free for members and $10 for non-members. Friday (Sept. 19)
Mariposa & Friends at Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock: Enjoy Mariposa, comprised of Linda Holzer and Sandra McDonald, as the duo, joined by Rafael León, with music by Manuel de Falla, Beethoven and Pulitzer Prize-winning Ellen Taaffe Zwilch. The concert is free and begins at 7:30 p.m.
Gallery of Hope at Next Level Events, 1400 W. Markham St., Little Rock: Come view works of art by cancer patients from Arkansas Children’s Hospital at the Gallery of Hope showcase Friday night. The night includes a live and silent auction. For more information, click here. The cost is $50.
Argenta ArtWalk at Argenta Arts District, North Little Rock: Enjoy nine galleries, dinner and drinks all in the Argenta ArtWalk. The tour is open 5-8 p.m. For more information, click here. Participants include the Argenta Branch Library, Greg Thompson Fine Art, Claytime Gallery, Thea Foundation and Mugs Café. There’s also a chili supper from 5-8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. It’s $5 per person.
Saturday (Sept. 20)
County Store Country Run 5K at War Memorial Stadium, One Stadium Drive, Little Rock: Get out your country clothes and join in the County Store Country Run 5K. The run will include refreshments, games and country charm. For more information, call 371-4639.
C.A.R.E. Adopt a Pet at Anthropologie at the Promenade at Chenal, Little Rock: Looking for an animal to adopt? Come meet Polly, Ritzy, Chopper, Ginger, Bingo and Tinker Bell from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, click here.
An Evening with Oliver Stone at Central High School, 2120 Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive, Little Rock: Come see Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone at Central High School. The event will include an episode from Stone’s most recent documentary, “The ’50s: Eisenhower, The Bomb & The Third World.” Following the documentary, Stone will be joined by a panel for discussion. Urban Raw Festival at South Main District, Little Rock: Solfood Catering is presenting the Urban Raw Festival, which is a day-long festival that will include music, food, artisans, and dance and theatre performances.
