Weekend (at Home) Guide: 9 Events to Welcome June

Funnel cakes, curbside concerts and summertime brews await.

Thursday & Friday, June 4 & 5

North Little Rock Welcome Center Grand Opening: Dogtown has some new digs. The NLR center is celebrating its first week and inviting folks to stop by, see the space and learn about activities in the city. Our favorite part? The mini shop of local makers. Center hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more info, click here.

Friday, June 5

“Meatballs” Virtual Screening: Time to laugh at more bad movies. The free CALS BingoFlix series is back offering prizes to the eagle-eyed viewers who can fill up their bingo card with hilariously awful cliches. This showing features the 1979 summer camp flick starring a young Bill Murray as head counselor. Showtime is 7 p.m. For more info, click here

Want more camp? Terror Tuesday and BingoFlix combine this summer for silly scares.

Saturday, June 6

Curbside Concert & Open Mic at The House of Art: The Argenta gallery’s regular events are still on hold, so they’re bringing the art to the people. Guests are invited to watch and listen from their cars or from across the street, and can purchase burgers and hot dogs on site. Showtime is 3 p.m. For more info, click here.

Friday & Saturday, June 5 & 6

“The Sandlot” Drive-In Movie Screening at 7318 Wind Song Drive: NLR’s new drive-in is bringing the nostalgia this week. Catch Squints, Smalls, Benny and the gang on the outdoor screen at 8:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m both nights (unless there’s a curfew, of course). For more info, click here.

Thursday-Sunday, June 4-6

Fair Food To-Go at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds: We’ve never been more thrilled to see a funnel cake. Load up the fam and come get your fill of fried deliciousness, just make sure to bring your mask and keep your social distance. Stop in 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. each day. For more info, click here.
