Weekend (at Home) Guide: 10 Activities for a Needed Dose of Fun

Scavenger hunts, good eats and hilariously bad movies await.

Friday, April 24

Virtual “Firewalker” Screening with CALS: Why get annoyed at bad movie cliches when you can laugh at them? The free BingoFlix series is back offering prizes to the eagle-eyed viewers who can fill up their card with hilariously awful cliches. This week features the 1986 flick starring Chuck Norris, Louis Gossett Jr. and a whole lot of ridiculousness. Showtime is 7 p.m. For more info, click here

Saturday, April 25

Virtual Heart Walk with the American Heart Association: Lace up the sneakers. This annual event may look a little different this year, but what doesn’t these days? The central Arkansas chapter of the AHA is encouraging folks to head outdoors (socially distanced, of course) to log some exercise to promote heart health. It all kicks off at 9 a.m. For more info, click here.

Rebel Kettle Brewing Birthday Celebration: HBD, RKB! The East Village brewery’s annual anniversary fest got put on hold, but they’re still down to party. They’re celebrating with special brews in their curbside pickup line, as well as a Community Bakery popup for added deliciousness. Get in your order and get excited. For more info, click here.

Scavenger Hunt at BoBrook Farms: Well, isn’t this wholesome? Last week the farm set up a driveable course through its grounds with a list of things for folks to find on their drive. It’s back again this weekend with an all-new setup and all for free. Bonus: The onsite River Bottom Winery has wine and cheese boards available for curbside delivery. Giddyup. Stop in noon – 3 p.m. For more info, click here.

Saturday & Sunday, April 25 & 26

Encore Performances with Ballet Arkansas: Just because a global pandemic makes you cancel your season doesn’t mean you can’t still share your beauty with the world. Each weekend Ballet Arkansas broadcasts one of its past shows and keeps it up for a few days for viewers to watch at their leisure. This weekend you can see excerpts from “Swan Lake Act II.” For more info, click here.

More and more local restaurants and breweries are hosting to-go pairing dinners on Facebook Live, and it just may be our new favorite thing. Here’s who’s getting in on the goods this weekend.
