A musical that’s sweet as pie.
The beloved musical “Waitress” is heading to the Robinson Stage for a limited four-show run this weekend. Presented by Celebrity Attractions, the diner will open for business Feb. 21-23.
The story centers around Jenna, a waitress and talented pie-maker who is stuck in a small town and a rocky marriage with her husband Earl. When an opportunity to enter a baking contest in a nearby county presents itself, Jenna must find the courage to seize it.
Based upon the 2007 film written by Adrienne Shelly, “Waitress” is the first Broadway musical to have four women in the four top creative team spots — a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by seven-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.
“Waitress” will take the stage Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Tickets may be purchased in person at Celebrity Attractions website, via phone at (501) 244-8800 or online at Ticketmaster.com. Groups of 10 or more receive a discount by calling (501) 492-3312.
