A new arts festival will makes its debut this September!
The Acansa Arts Festival will be an annual fall festival celebrating the unique culture of Southern arts. To inspire public appreciation for the arts, the five-day event (Sept. 24-Sept.28) will highlight music, theater, visual and performing arts throughout North Little Rock and Little Rock. Live performances, exhibits, educational workshops and activities will be part of the event.
“The festival will create synergy through the positive collaboration of regional arts organizations, local businesses, government, and civic groups. We are committed to increase audience participation in the arts, promote Southern pride, and generate opportunities for local commerce. We hope to broaden public access to the arts, provide educational opportunities, and encourage and cultivate local artistic talent and art groups,” say organizers.
The inspiration for Acansa comes from Spoleto, a similar festival in Charleston, S.C. Spoleto, established in 1972 is a very successful 17-day event with visual and performing arts held every spring.
