You’ve never seen the Dutch icon quite like this.
“Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience” is coming to the capital city this week, bringing with it mesmerizing views of the painter’s most famous masterpieces. The exhibition will be set in “The Exhibition Hub Art Center” at 2616 S. Shackleford Road, the structure inside Shackleford Crossings that also houses Havertys Furniture and Main Event.
The experience comprises four sections. Best known is the 20,000-square-foot room with every surface covered in two-story, 360-degree projections of van Gogh’s work. Guests can also take part in a virtual reality tour that drops them into pieces like “The Starry Night” and “The Bedroom at Arles.”
In the more traditional portion of the exhibition, there is a multimedia section that dives into the artist’s story, as well as a hands-on opportunity for guests to make their own van Gogh-inspired artwork. There are even special events such as yoga classes set to take place in the projection room.
Since its debut, this traveling show has won multiple awards and taken over social media feeds worldwide, with readers of USA Today voting it as the best immersive experience in 2021.
The exhibit’s stint in Little Rock begins Aug. 1 and runs through October. Tickets are available in time slots every half hour. For more information and tickets, visit the “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience” website.
