Travel Day Rally Celebrates Tourism

Communities across the state are recognizing the travel and tourism industry this week.

Tourism Week, as proclaimed by Gov. Mike Beebe, runs May 3-11.

The industry welcomed more than 23 million visitors that spent about $5.9 billion in 2013.

The capital city will hold a Travel Day Rally today (May 6) at the Bernice Gardens. Mayor Mark Stodola will make a proclamation. Events of the day include a presentation from Gretchen Hall, CEO of the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, on the city’s first Service Champion Award winner and a video contest highlighting travel effect, and a presentation outlining the economic effect of travel in Arkansas and the story of how tourism helped to transform the SoMa district.
