Tickets to ‘Ragtime’ Now on Sale

At the dawn of the 20th century, everything was changing, and no place embodied the transition more than New York City.

This is the backdrop for “Ragtime,” the Tony Award-winning musical that tells the stories of an upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician who are all set on riding the wave of change into a brighter tomorrow.

The musical is based on E.L. Doctorow’s 1975 novel of the same name, which won the National Book Critics Circle award and sold more than 4 million copies. After being made into a film in 1982, a Broadway musical in 1998 and reviving that musical in 2009, this story wasn’t quite done yet.

That’s why 20th century NYC is coming to central Arkansas. Celebrity Attractions is bringing the Broadway favorite to Maumelle Performing Arts Center on April 15-17. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
