A Loss of Roses On Stage at Arkansas Repertory Theatre Through July 1

Closing out Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s season is the drama A Loss of Roses onstage through July 1.

This little-known play, written by William Inge (author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Picnic) and directed by New York actor and playwright Austin Pendleton, tells the story of two women struggling to make their lives bearable in a small Kansas town.

Helen (Jane Summerhays) is a widow who cherishes the memory of her heroic husband even as her grown son Kenny (Bret Lada) struggles to win his mother’s love. Lila (Jean Lichty) is a beautiful and emotionally insecure actress who arrives on their doorstep with a lifetime of baggage. When Lila moves in, a love triangle is created that can only end in heartbreak.
