These past few months, we couldn’t be more thankful to live in the beauty of The Natural State and to have miles of outdoors to explore when we’ve long since lost count of the days we’ve spent distancing at home.
Lucky for us, the Arkansas State Parks department is fueling our new go-to hobby with its new passport program. Launched this summer, the program encourages you to visit all 52 state parks across Arkansas and document your adventures as you check off each one.
“This is a great activity for travelers, particularly for Arkansans who may be looking for fun vacation activities while they stay a little closer to home this year,” said Stacy Hurst, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism.
Passports are free and available at any Arkansas state park visitor center. Each time you explore a new park, just get your passport stamped at the park’s visitor center or make a rubbing of the stamp in parks without a center.
“We have 52 state parks that are free to enter and offer diverse experiences,” Arkansas State Parks Director Grady Spann said. “Whether you’re a history buff, wildlife watcher, into adventure sports or all of the above, we have a park where you can have that meaningful experience and feel at home.””
Get exploring at the Arkansas State Parks website, and follow along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a little local wanderlust.
