For lovers of the delicious combo of The Rail Yard and Count Porkula BBQ, one last trip to East Sixth Street should be on the to-do list this week. As of Nov. 30, the award-winning barbecue pros will be leaving their permanent spot in the food truck court.
Count Porkula started as a food truck with Walt Todd and Kelly Lovell at the helm before opening its first brick-and-mortar location at The Rail Yard in 2018, followed by its first standalone restaurant at 10840 Maumelle Blvd. this summer.
The closure of The Rail Yard location coincides with the upcoming opening of Count Porkula’s newest location at 201 Keightley Drive, the former Ozark Mountain Smokehouse site near the corner of Cantrell and Mississippi. The restaurant, which will be referred to as the “Crossroads” location, will feature more than 2,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining alongside its fan-favorite menu of barbecue staples and fresh takes on classics.
Count Porkula shared this message on its social media pages:
We will miss The Rail Yard staff, the food trucks, the customers and the overwhelming support of the East Village community. The Count Porkula family is forever thankful for our time at The Rail Yard and the success we’ve had over the years. We would not be here without them.
We want to thank Linda, Murry and Virginia for teaming up with Count Porkula and starting one of the most outstanding outdoor venues in Little Rock. They have a lot of exciting things coming soon, and we wish them the absolute best.
