Ah, September. The fall fashion issue. While I admit it feels a little strange to talk fashion in the insanity of 2020, it feels perfectly timely to talk about supporting local businesses and, more than ever, life’s little comforts.
Lately I’ve worn two pieces nonstop that couldn’t be more different. My Camp Arkansas hat is super comfortable, can take whatever I throw at it and never complains about the state of my hair. And my tiny bat necklace from Bang-Up Betty is cute, spooky and a welcome reminder fall is just around the corner.
Here are the locally purchased items in our closets we can’t live without.
Mandy Richardson, Publisher
“A good blazer goes far in my wardrobe and Jill at Feinstein’s always has a great selection of Lafayette 148 blazers for me to choose from. I especially like the finesse crepe material that L148 uses in several of their pieces each season, which can easily be dressed up or down depending on what’s going on that day. I typically buy a few each year and wear them on repeat.”
Betsy Smith, Account Executive
“I love my ‘Be Kind to Each Other’ T-shirt from Hillcrest Waterbugs because it reminds me to always remember this very simple, but very important instruction and try to live it each day. It also helps that it’s one of the softest shirts I have, so it’s easy to want to wear it all the time!”
Bethany Johnson, Advertising Coordinator
“My new 2020 accessory staple that none of us saw coming is my mask. My Brooke Wright Design mask from Tulips has been my favorite. They have lots of fun prints that (almost) make it fun to wear.”
Lydia McAllister, Writer
“I find myself reaching for my Jenny Bird Raya ear jackets more than any other earrings I have. I spotted this pair at Box Turtle in Hillcrest and loved their modern vibe and mixed metals.”
Kelli Roy, Awards Events & Marketing Coordinator
“I love my summery, strappy pink dress from E.Leigh’s that is comfortable for lounging or work when you throw on a flowy kimono.”
Bliss Mosley, Assistant to the Publisher
“I have a dainty gold star necklace from Belle & Blush that I wear every day. It goes perfectly with all the other jewelry I own and I don’t go a day without it.”
Bethany Robinson, Account Executive
“I love these earrings made by my sister Amy Darragh at Creative Cords Macrame. They’re handmade, unique and she can make them in any color.”
