SPONSORED: The Secret to Making Your Wellness Resolutions Stick (For Real This Time)

Presented by:

According to Forbes, nearly 80% of New Years resolutions fail, often within the first 30 days of the year.

Whether you are a resolution person or not, there is something to be said about getting clear on what you want to see happen for yourself, your community, your family, etc. in the coming year.

The annual resolution-saga is a common one for most of us. We have the best intentions, but they don’t always pan out.

A recent survey found nearly 40% of Americans resolve to prioritize health in the new year, but as we all know, it isn’t always easy to keep your health a priority in the midst of all the things the past 12 months had in store for us.

The secret to keeping up with your health and fitness goals in 2021? Routine.

Like with any new habit, it takes small action steps repeated for an extended period of time to really stick. Building a routine is a surefire way to make that happen.

If you’ve already thrown in the towel on your resolutions this year, know that you’re not alone. But remember, there is no one time of year better than another to set resolutions and build new, healthier habits.

Start here:

  1. Write out your goal/resolution. Clarity is key.

  2. Put a timestamp on it. Know how long you’re committing to this goal/resolution. This will help when life happens or the days get tough.

  3. Tell someone (or a few someones) about it. Accountability buddy, anyone?

  4. Make a plan. Write out smaller goals and intentions to help keep you on track of your bigger goal. Try the one-week trial, buy the new tennis shoes, sign up for the membership, set your game plan.

  5. Take it day by day. And be ok with adjusting your plan day by day, as needed.

Bottom line: It takes a little work, but there’s a reason you chose the resolutions you did. Do yourself a favor and give it your all this year to make them a reality.
