‘The Second City’ Ending Run at The Rep This Weekend

Have you had a chance to take in a performance of “The Second City” at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre?

It’s your last chance beacause the traveling comedy tour, which got started on April 30, is ending its run Saturday.

The Second City” draws on classic material from its history of comedy and creates scenes from everyday-headlines to bring laughs to the audience.

The comedy program, which first opened its doors in Chicago in 1959, is the old stomping grounds of many of today’s great comedians, including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Bill Murray, Keegan Michael Key and current Saturday Night Live stars Cecily Strong, Tim Robinson and Jason Sudeikis. 

Chris Farley, John Candy, Dan Akroyd, Jim and John Belushi, Tim Meadows and Jerry Stiller have also performed at one time or another for “The Second City.”
Here is a rundown of the remaining special programs for the show:
  • Singles Mix and Mingle, The Rep: Singles, it’s time to mix and mingle in Foster’s Lounge at The Rep before you enjoy a night of hilarity with the cast of “The Second City.” Mixer starts at 6 p.m., while the show will get started at 7 p.m. today (May 7). 
  • Cidre Night with Stella Artois, The Rep: On Thursday (May 8), Stella Artois’ new Cidre will be available for purchase in Foster’s Lounge.  Join The Arkansas Times and Golden Eagle before the show to toast Stella Artois’ Cidre debut! From 6-7 p.m., catch a live acoustical performance in Foster’s featuring Steve Davison and Micky Rigby’s band Finger Food. The show will get started at 7 p.m.
